On 20 and 21 March maestro Gergiev will be performing concerts with the Rotterdam Philharmonic at the De Doelen Concert Hall in Rotterdam. The concert programme includes the overture from Carl Maria von Weber’s opera Der Freischütz, Henri Dutilleux’ violin concerto L’Arbre des songes (soloist – Benjamin Schmid) and Hector Berlioz’ Symphonie fantastique.

The same programme will be presented at a matinee performance on Saturday 22 March at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. From 1995 to 2008 Valery Gergiev was Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic, and he currently appears with the ensemble as a guest conductor. Over the entire course of his collaboration with the ensemble he has conducted more than four hundred concerts in The Netherlands and abroad.
