On 25 December the Mariinsky Orchestra and soloists of the Mariinsky Opera will be performing in Moscow

On 25 December at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall there will be a concert by the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev to conclude the ensemble’s December tour of Russia. In the first half of December, the Mariinsky appeared in Samara (4 and 5 December, the international festival A Tribute to Mstislav Rostropovich), Kemerovo (6 December), Tomsk (9 December) and Khanty-Mansiysk (10 December). Between their concerts in towns and cities in Siberia, maestro Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra hosted a Stravinsky festival in Beijing, the first such major festival of the composer’s works in China.
The programme for the Moscow concert includes famous scenes from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s operas The Queen of Spades, Eugene Onegin and Mazepa featuring the Mariinsky’s lead soloists as well as Dmitry Shostakovich’s Fourth Symphony.
