The outstanding choreographer Hans van Manen is coming to the Mariinsky Theatre; the choreographer has staged numerous productions for Het Nationale Ballet, the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), the Royal Ballet (Covent Garden), the Stuttgart Ballett, the Berliner Staatsoper, the Bayerische Staatsballett, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Danish Royal Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada. The Mariinsky Ballet does not as yet have any of his ballets in its repertoire, though St Petersburg audiences were introduced to van Manen’s art with the Russian premiere of the incredibly beautiful miniature Trois Gnossiennes, which Ulyana Lopatkina and Ilya Kuznetsov added to their repertoires a few years ago. During his visit Hans van Manen will meet the company, attend performances, rehearsals and classes and hold talks about possible collaboration with the Mariinsky Ballet.
