Congratulations to the newspaper The Mariinsky Theatre!

The newspaper The Mariinsky Theatre has been named best corporate printed production.

The Mariinsky Theatre’s news digest has won the Silver Threads-2013 competition in the category “Best Corporate Newspaper in Culture”. Silver Threads is Russia’s first interregional competition of corporate media resources, awarding prizes on an annual basis to the most successful corporate newspapers, magazines, radio and TV programmes, corporate websites and internet portals as well as special projects in corporate media communication and companies’ annual reports. Participating in the competition this year were one hundred and fourteen representatives of media resources from eighty organisations in Russia and Ukraine.

he Mariinsky Theatre’s newspaper, which this year celebrates a double anniversary, has a long and respected history. The production of such a newspaper by what was then the Kirov Theatre began eighty years ago in 1933, its original name being For Soviet Art. Twenty years ago it was renamed along with the theatre itself, which reverted to its original name. For the past fifteen years the Editor-in-Chief of the publication has been the acclaimed St Petersburg music historian Iosif Genrikhovich Raiskin. As its name suggests, the newspaper reports principally on key events at the Mariinsky Theatre. Nevertheless, the range of topics it covers is incredibly broad and it reaches well beyond the confines of purely theatrical events. The columns Chronicle of St Petersburg and A Window on Russia inform the newspaper’s readers of current happenings in the city and the country’s musical life while the column A Window on Europe focuses on major events in world music.
