Debuts in The Nutcracker

The historic Mariinsky Theatre will be staging a production of Vasily Vainonen’s fairytale ballet The Nutcracker on 15, 16 and 17 November.

On 15 November the lead female role will be performed by Anastasia Kolegova (debut) followed by Nadezhda Batoeva in the matinee on 17 November.
On 17 November in the matinee performance the lead role will be performed by David Zaleyev, who impressed the jury at the XII International Ballet Competition in Moscow with his training and exceptional stage attributes. At the June competition, David, a student of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet who also studied at the Bashkiria College of Dance and who was formerly a first soloist at the Tatar State Academic Musa Jalil Opera and Ballet Theatre, won 1st prize and the Gold Medal as well as the special producer prize “For Artistry and On-Stage Charm”.

There will also be debuts in the dances of the divertissement in Act III: Anastasia Zaklinskaya will perform the Spanish Dance (16 November) and Alisa Boyarko the Trepak (15 November). On 15 November Kumiko Ishii will appear as the Doll for the first time with Alexei Kuzmin as Drosselmeyer and Ivan Sitnikov as the Mouse King. In the evening performance on 17 November Ilya Karpovich will make his debut in the Rose Waltz.
