The Mariinsky label’s recording of Die Walküre has been awarded ECHO Klassik’s top prize!

A recording of the opera Die Walküre from Richard Wagner’s tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen on the Mariinsky label has been awarded ECHO Klassik’s top prize in the category “Best Opera Recording of the Year” (19th century music).
 



 

The release of Die Walküre with an unprecedented cast of outstanding contemporary Wagnerian singers including Anja Kampe, Jonas Kaufmann, René Pape, Nina Stemme, Mikhail Petrenko and Ekaterina Gubanova with Mariinsky Opera soloists and the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev took place on 11 February, and in just half a year the recording has conquered the globe, receiving rave reviews from audiences and music critics alike.
