The release of Die Walküre with an unprecedented cast of outstanding contemporary Wagnerian singers including Anja Kampe, Jonas Kaufmann, René Pape, Nina Stemme, Mikhail Petrenko and Ekaterina Gubanova with Mariinsky Opera soloists and the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev took place on 11 February, and in just half a year the recording has conquered the globe, receiving rave reviews from audiences and music critics alike. “René Pape’s interpretation of the role of Wotan is unsurpassed in the history of the music recording era.
