At the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center on 6 November there will be a performance of Anatoly Lyadov’s symphonic tableau Baba Yaga and Dmitry Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto and First Symphony as well as Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. The programme for the next day features Johannes Brahms’ Second Symphony and works by Sergei Prokofiev – his Fifth Symphony and First Piano Concerto. The solos at both concerts will be performed by Korean pianists Yeol Eum Son, winner of the 2nd prize at the XIV Tchaikovsky Competition, and Cho Seong Jin, an eighteen-year-old pianist who won the International Piano Competition in Hamamatsu in 2009, the youngest winner in the history of the competition and the first winner from Asia to take 1st prize in addition to taking 1st prize at the International Chopin Competition in Moscow. |
