Tour by the Mariinsky Orchestra to Seoul, South Korea,
6 – 7 november

At the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center on 6 November there will be a performance of Anatoly Lyadov’s symphonic tableau Baba Yaga and Dmitry Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto and First Symphony as well as Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. The programme for the next day features Johannes Brahms’ Second Symphony and works by Sergei Prokofiev – his Fifth Symphony and First Piano Concerto. The solos at both concerts will be performed by Korean pianists Yeol Eum Son, winner of the 2^nd prize at the XIV Tchaikovsky Competition, and Cho Seong Jin, an eighteen-year-old pianist who won the International Piano Competition in Hamamatsu in 2009, the youngest winner in the history of the competition and the first winner from Asia to take 1^st prize in addition to taking 1^st prize at the International Chopin Competition in Moscow.
