The Mariinsky label’s recording of Jules Massenet’s opera Don Quichotte featuring the legendary Ferruccio Furlanetto in the title role has received lavish praise from British critics.

On 5 May BBC Radio 3’s new CD review programme Disc of the Week announced the label’s release of the opera Don Quichotte. In addition to Ferruccio Furlanetto, the recording also featured Mariinsky Opera Company soloists Anna Kiknadze as Dulcinée and Andrey Serov as Sancho Panza with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev. The same cast performed the opera in concert on 3 May at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire as part of the XI Easter Festival.
