An official press release confirmed that “Following the incident that happened to Kurt Masur on 26 April, when during a concert at the Théâtre des Champs Élysées he lost consciousness and collapsed at the conductor’s stand, the maestro spent several days at a clinic in Paris under the watchful eye of medics. X-rays showed a bone fracture. The conductor has been forced to cancel all of his performances until the end of June 2012, but he plans to return to the concert stage in September at the start of the new season.” We send the maestro our warm wishes for a speedy recovery. On 16 May at the Concert Hall there will be a concert featuring Franz Schubert’s Eighth “Unfinished” Symphony and Dmitry Shostakovich’s Eighth Symphony performed by the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev. Tickets remain valid. |
