A debut by Oxana Skorik

On 7 May Oxana Skorik will be making her debut in the lead role in Alberto Alonso’s ballet Carmen-Suite.

Oxana Skorik

Her natural ballet skills, the elegance of her lines and the lightness and expressiveness of her dance are among Oxana Skorik’s innate qualities, her repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre consisting mainly of roles in classical productions. The dancer feels equally confident, however, in the ballets of Michel Fokine and George Balanchine. Skorik’s first major role at the Mariinsky Theatre was that of Giselle, followed by Odette-Odile in Swan Lake.
The role of Carmen will open up another facet of Skorik’s talent as a dancer in that not only is it a new and unfamiliar character for her but also her first experience of performing modern choreography.
