On 7 February Mariinsky Theatre soloist Zlata Bulycheva will be making her debut in Giacomo Puccini’s opera Suor Angelica. | |||||

Zlata Bulycheva, “who has captivated the hearts of numerous countries with her mezzo-soprano voice,” admitted in an interview with Rossiiskie vesti that the key to being a professional singer “lies in combining myriad qualities together: movement, musicality, stage presence, proficiency and so on,” – “you have to be able to create a musical image” and “sing lying down, sitting up and ‘upside down’ and remain in good physical form the whole time.” Thus fully armed, Bulycheva appears before audiences in various roles, among them such diverse characters as Konchakovna (Prince Igor), Carmen (Carmen), Didon (Les Troyens), Lel (The Snow Maiden), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Dalila (Samson et Dalila) and Amneris (Aida). The same evening, Puccini’s triptych will feature lLithuanian guest soloist Asmik Grigorian as Giorgetta in the opera Il tabarro, the title role in Suor Angelica and the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. |
