Born in the Leningrad Region.
After graduating from the Leningrad Vaganova School of Dance in 1978 (classes of Mikhail Boyarchikova, Veniamin Zimin) he joined the Choreographic Miniatures company, with which he performed lead roles in the ballets Shurale, Schéhérazade, Hadja Nasredin, Leonid Yakobson’s miniatures Vestris, Polichinelle, Rodin’s Sculptures, Pas de Deux and Pas de Trois to music by Gioachino Rossini. From 1991-1999 he was with the Leningrad Kirov Theatre of Opera and Ballet (renamed the Mariinsky Theatre in 1992). Created the role of Colas in Oleg Vinogradov’s version of the ballet La Fille mal gardée. Performed in the ballets La Sylphide (James), Giselle (Albrecht, Classical Duet), The Sleeping Beauty (the Blue Bird), Le Corsaire (Lankedem), The Legend of Love (Jester), Chopiniana (the Youth) and Romeo and Juliet (Mercutio).

Since 2013 he has been a teacher and coach with the Mariinsky Ballet, rehearsing roles with Kimin Kim, Vladimir Shklyarov, Philipp Stepin, Yaroslav Baibordin, Yaroslav Pushkov, Rufat Mamedov and Anton Osetrov.
