Following studies in France and working as a leader with the Orchestre de Nancy, he joined the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1989, leading the Kreuzberger Streichquartett for five years and playing second violin in the Timm-Quartett from 2000–2003. He frequently performs in trios and other chamber orchestra formats, and is an eagerly sought-after chamber music partner among his colleagues at the Berliner Philharmoniker.
