Caroline Alassio was born in Berlin to the German violonist Albin Doerge and his wife Hongza Choe Doerge, a Korean soprano. She began to study the piano at the age of five.
She later studied at the Julius-Stern-Institut and Hochschule der Künste in Berlin with Laszlo Simon. She was a student of Karl Heinz Kaemmerling at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover. She studied with Homero Francesch at the Musikhochschule in Zurich and with Franco Scala at the Accademia Pianistica in Imola. She has taken masterclasses with Sergei Dorenski and Lev Naumov.
Awards she has received include several first prizes at Steinway Competitions in Berlin and Hamburg between 1979 and 85 and a prize at the III European Chopin Competition in Darmstadt in 1989.
As soloist she has performed in such halls as the Konzerthaus Berlin, Berlin’s Philharmonie, the Sala Sinfónica in Castellón and in San Sebastian (Spain), the Seoul Arts Center, Bunkakaikan Hall (Tokyo), the Teatro Regio in Turin and the Teatro Comunale Bologna with the Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester under Eliahu Inbal, the Hungarian Philharmonic Orchestra under Guido Maria Guida, the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale Bologna under Gerd Albrecht, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Korean Symphony Orchestra, the Solisti di Zagreb, the State Orchestra of Romania, the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Salzburger Kammerorchester, the Vienna Classical Players, the Orchestra Cantelli di Milano, the Orchestra Giovanile del Piemonte, the Orchestra of La Scala in Milan, the European Union Chamber Orchestra and Symphonisches Orchester Berlin.
She has given recitals at the Teatro Comunale in Reggio Emilia, Lingotto, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Turin Conservatoire, the Sala Mozart in Bologna, the Kammermusiksaal of the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Villa Wahnfried in Bayreuth and the auditorium of the Lugano Conservatoire among other European venues.
She has been invited to international festivals including the Schleswig Holstein Festival, Young Artists in Concert in Davos and the Berliner Festwochen (invited by Claudio Abbado), the Young Euro Classic Festival and festivals in Cervo Ligure, Veglia and the Ceresio Estate in Lugano.
Caroline Alassio performs chamber music with the Trio Berlin, members of the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Wiener Virtuosen, members of the Wiener Philharmoniker, the New Arca Trio, members of the national Italian Radio Orchestra, the Orion Trio, members of the Wiener Symphoniker, the Quintett Briccialdi, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Korean Chamber Ensemble.
