Violin

A protégé of world renowned professors Marina Yashvili and Eduard Grach, Dragan Sredojević is one of the few violinists who studied with the greatest representatives of the famous Russian violin school at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. After completing his studies in Moscow, he was invited by maestro Valery Gergiev to join one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world – the Mariinsky Orchestra in St Petersburg.
Dragan has been playing the violin since the age of six. He made his first solo appearance with an orchestra at the age of seven, performing Nikolić’s violin concerto. At the age of fourteen he had his first evening solo recital, and ever since the young Dragan Sredojević has been considered a leading violinist of his generation, recognisable through his warm sound, technical impeccability and his unbounded imagination. Dragan has held over five hundred concerts and has performed at the most well-known concert halls throughout the world including the European Parliament Hall in Brussels, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Tel Aviv Opera, the Mariinsky Theatre, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire (Great Hall, Rachmaninov Hall and Lesser Hall), the Tbilisi Philharmonic Concert Hall, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Hall, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, the Kolarac Hall and the Sava Centre in Belgrade and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts Hall. He holds recitals and performs with chamber orchestras in all the cities of Serbia, as well as across the globe in Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Russia, Israel, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Croatia, Romania and Georgia.
As well as being a prize-winner at every major national and international competition in Serbia and several international competitions abroad, Dragan was also invited to take on the mantle of leader and soloist of the Central European Initiative Youth Orchestra, which brings together the most talented young artists from all of Europe. He also received the commendation Belgrade Angel from the Serbian Ministry of Culture and an award from the Russian Federation for outstanding achievements in art.
Dragan is a guest performer with the Belgrade Chamber Orchestra Simfonietta, conducted by Aleksandar Vujić, appearing as the leader and soloist. He is also a guest performer with the Camerata Serbica orchestra, comprised of Professors and Assistant Lecturers from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
He was invited and given a scholarship to attend the elite Keshet Eilon Master-Class in Israel, where he collaborated with the most renowned violinists and professors of the international violin school of the present such as Shlomo Mintz, Ida Haendel, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Vadim Gluzman, Haim Taub, Hagai Shaham and Itzhak Rashkovsky. Dragan’s chamber music partners and mentors with whom he regularly collaborates include leaders of the London Symphony Orchestra (Roman Simović) and the Wiener Philharmoniker (Volkhard Steude), as well as Natalia Gutman, Victor Pikayzen, Mikhail Voskresensky, Pavel Vernikov, Igor Ozim and Sergey Kravchenko among others.
