Yuri Bogatyrev


Yuri Bogatyrev studied at the St Petersburg Musorgsky School of Music under Gennady Golshtein. In 2002 he won 1st prize at the Autumn Marathon young performers' competition and was invited to join the Vladimir Lytkin Ensemble.
Collaborates with musicians including Ivan Vasiliev, Ruslan Khain, Ilya Lushtak, Vladimir Koltsov-Krutov, Gary Bagdasarian, Alexei Shikhov, Luigi Grasso, Jean-Loup Lognon, Jimmy Lovelace, Wes Montgomery, John Webber, Ilya Lushtak's Bop Gun ensemble and Ivan Vasiliev's Acoustic Band ensemble.
Regularly appears with Gennady Golshtein's St Petersburg Saxophones ensemble, Kirill Bubyakin's big-band Jazz Philharmonic and Ilya Lushtak's American Classic Band.
Director of his own group, the Downtown Sextet.
