Andrei Blinchevsky is a saxophonist, pianist and ensemble leader. Born in Cherepovets. In 1999 he entered the St Petersburg Musorgsky School of Music (class of Gennady Golstein). In 2000 he was a prize-winner at the Autumn Marathon competition of young jazz performers run by the St Petersburg Jazz Philharmonic. In 2011 he graduated from the faculty of popular music of the St Petersburg State University of Culture. Trained in the USA as part of the Open World programme, and studied at the Dave Brubeck Institute under Dave Brubeck, Marvin Stamm and other acclaimed jazz musicians. He is currently actively involved in various music activities in St Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian towns as well as abroad, appearing at prestigious jazz venues; collaborates with Jason Brown, Vladimir Nesterenko, Alexei Bekker, Dmitry Bratukhin, Nikolai Sizov, Pavel Timofeyev, Nikolai Zatolochny and Andrei Zimovets. Since 2008 he has taught at the St Petersburg State University of Culture.
