Andrei Koziev was born in 1985 in Leningrad.
At the age of six he began to study music. In 1997 he became a prize-winner at the International Dmitry Shostakovich Competition. From 1997–2001 he was a grant-recipient from the Philharmonic Society. In 2004 he graduated from the Middle Specialised School of Music of the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. In 2009 he graduated from the St Petersburg Conservatoire itself (class of V.V. Znamensky).
Since 2005 he has been a soloist with the stage orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre. Together with the stage orchestra he has performed with Valery Gergiev, Tugan Sokhiev, Anna Netrebko, Rolando Villazón, Maria Guleghina, Vladimir Galuzin and numerous other outstanding musicians.
