Denis Kashin

Double bass
Denis Kashin is a deputy leader of the double bass section of the Mariinsky Orchestra; with the orchestra he performs the opera, ballet and symphony music repertoire and appears in chamber venues in recital and in ensemble programmes. His repertoire includes music from the Baroque era to the present day – not just original works for double bass, but also arrangements he himself produces. Denis Kashin performs both classical and jazz music on the double bass. In the spring of 2015 at the International Piano Festival the pianist gave a dazzling performance of the jazz improvisation-cadenza in Rodion Shchedrin's Second Piano Concerto, "competing" with the piano soloist Denis Matsuev.
