Olga Skorbyashchenskaya


Olga Skorbyashchenskaya is a music critic and pianist. In 1987 she graduated from the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. Doctor of art history and senior lecturer at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. Specialist in the problems of performing classical piano music, in particular matters of interpreting works by Chopin, von Weber and Liszt. Author of the preface to the publication Douze études d'exécution transcendante by Liszt (St Petersburg, Kompozitor, 2006) and over a hundred critical music articles in Russian periodicals. In 1990 she worked for the newspapers Vecherny Peterburg and Kommersant. Appears as a pianist in duets with Konstantin Uchitel; in terms of repertoire, her greatest interest lies in works by little-known 20th century composers (Mikhail Milner, Joel Engel and Mikhail Gnessin) and contemporary composers (Yuri Krasavin and Leonid Desyatnikov).
