Vitaly Petrov


Piano

Vitaly Petrov was born in 2003 in St Petersburg. Graduated from the Secondary Special Music School of the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory. Since 2021 he has been a student at the conservatory itself (class of Alexander Sandler). Participated in masterclasses held by Willem Brons, Vladimir Kharin, Grigory Gruzman, Arkady Sevidov, Oleg Polyansky, Christian Kliber, Kristina Sandulova, Hatto Beyerle, Alexandra Türk and Patrick Jüdt.

Laureate of the Stockholm International Music Competition (2014; 1st prize), the Vienna International Art Open Festival (2017; 1st prize), the International Competition for Pianists, Vocalists, Chamber Music Performers and Composers FEURICH (Vienna, 2018; Grand Prix), the International Competition Münchner Klavierpodium der Jugend (2019; fourteen special prizes), the Berliner International Music Competition (2019; Gold Medal), the International Piano Competition of Russian Music (Ryazan, 2019; 4th prize and special prize), the International Piano Competition Clavis St Petersburg (2020; 1st prize) and the International Piano Competition Clavis Bavaria (Füssen, 2020; 1st prize), the All-Russian Competition Young Talents of Russia (2020; 2nd prize), the Sviatoslav Richter International Online Piano Competition (Seoul, 2021; 1st prize) and the San Jose International Piano Competition (USA, 2021; 2nd prize and special prize).

He has played at the Moscow International Performing Arts Centre, the Grand and Small halls of the St Petersburg Philharmonia, the Mariinsky Theatre, the Pskov Regional, Kaliningrad Regional, Tula Regional, Vyatka and Karelian philharmonics, the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Winter Theatre in Sochi, concert halls in Vienna (Musikverein, Ehrbar Hall, Kaiser Hall), Nuremberg and Cologne. Has appeared with the Tauride International Symphony Orchestra (St Petersburg), the St Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra, the St Petersburg State Governor’s Symphony Orchestra, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the St Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra, the State Russian Concert Orchestra of St Petersburg and the Sochi Symphony Orchestra among others. Has collaborated with such conductors as Alexander Titov, Arkady Steinlukht, Vladimir Sirenko, Alexey Rubin, Igor Manasherov, Mikhail Golikov, Alexei Aslanov, Maxim Alexeev, Igor Ponomarenko and Vladimir Popov.

He performed at the festivals Moscow Meets Friends, Night of Museums, Classics Without Borders, St Petersburg Seasons, Tchaikovsky.spb.ru, St Petersburg Musical Spring, White Nights of Karelia and Days of Spiritual Culture of Russia in Serbia among others. Participant in the programmes of the St Petersburg Music House since 2020.
