Alexander Maslov


Piano

Alexander Maslov is a classical and jazz pianist. He was born in Leningrad in 1985. From 2003 to 2005 he studied under Vladimir Krainev at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. In 2010 he graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory, and in 2013 he completed a postgraduate study there (class of Leonid Zaichik). Since that year he has taught special piano and improvisation at the St Petersburg Conservatory.

Prize-winner at the International Vladimir Krainev Young Pianists’ Competition (Kharkiv, 2002; 1st prize and two special awards), the Valsesia Musica competition (Varallo, Italy, 2006; 4th prize), the All-Russian Piano Competition The Path to Mastery (Moscow, 2006; 2nd prize), the Anton G. Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Dresden (2007; 2nd prize and Audience Award) and the All-Russian Music Competition (Moscow, 2010; 2nd prize).

Has appeared at the finest venues of St Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian cities. Has toured to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Finland, Denmark, Ukraine, Israel and countries in Asia and South America. Has taken part in international festivals in Graz (Austria) and Rheingau (Germany), the Mariinsky International Piano Festival, the Stars of the White Nights festival and International Conservatoire Week in St Petersburg.

Has collaborated with such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Vassily Sinaisky, Mikhail Tatarnikov, Igor Verbitsky, Alexander Polianichko, Alexander Titov, Vladimir Ponkin, Vladimir Sirenko and Wojciech Rajski. Has appeared with the Mariinsky Orchestra, the St Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra, the St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw.
Has collaborated with the recording company Sony. Founder and head of the Alexander Maslov Trio.
