Since 2022 Yixing Sun has been studying at Beijing’s China Conservatory of Music, improving his skills in symphony and opera conducting under Professors Jin Ye and Li Xincao, and at the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Professor Alexander Polishchuk). At the China Conservatory of Music Yixing was admitted to the project Outstanding Student in 2023 and to the project Young Musician in 2025, and he enrolled multiple times in the programmes Young Conductor and Young Opera Conductor. Was also supervised by Hu Yongyan, Lyu Jia, Li Yang, Wang Linlin, Yuan Ding, Vassily Sinaisky, Vasily Petrenko and Christian Ehwald.
Prize-winner at the International Conducting Competition Città di Milano (2023; 2nd prize) and the Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors (Moscow, 2025; 2nd prize and Silver Medal).
He was an assistant conductor of the China Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, conducted the Beijing Concert Hall Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra Choir, the China Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tianjin and Jilin symphony orchestras, the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg, the Symphony Orchestra of the St Petersburg Conservatory, the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra (Budapest).
