His theatre credits include King Lear (Liverpool’s Everyman and the Young Vic), No Man’s Land (Dublin’s Gate Theatre and West End), His Dark Materials, Southwark Fayre and Mother Clap’s Molly House (National Theatre), The Cordelia Dream, The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Royal Shakespeare Company), Beckett Festival (sixteen short Beckett plays, New York and the Barbican Centre in London), in The Distance from Here, The Shape of Things and The Hypochondriac (Almeida Theatre), A Prayer for My Daughter and Six Characters Looking for an Author (Young Vic), Festen (Dublin’s Gate Theatre) A Life in the Theatre (the Apollo, West End) and The Frogs (Lincoln Center, New York). He was awarded the 2005 Olivier Award for best set design for His Dark Materials.
