Stas Lopatkin


Costume Designer

Born in Leningrad. Graduated from the Faculty of Art and Graphics of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia. His degree work – illustrations for García Márquez’ novella La increíble y triste historia de la cándida Eréndira y de su abuela desalmada – was noted at the Muses of St Petersburg competition. The STAS LOPATKIN brand was founded in 2001. The first clothing collection was shown as part of St Petersburg Fashion Week in 2003. Since then, each year STAS LOPATKIN has produced seasonal collections and shown them on various catwalks in Russia and Europe. Dresses and costumes manufactured on the STAS LOPATKIN label are to be found in the collections of the State Hermitage and the Tsarskoe Selo State Museum and Heritage Site.

The designer Stas Lopatkin is a regular participant in charitable auctions, shows and exhibitions, and is a jury member and expert for professional competitions. As well as creating his own original clothing collections he also engages in the restoration of historic costumes, designs costumes for film, television, theatre productions and concert programmes and collaborates with stars of the Russian and international stage and the world of opera.

Since 2009 he has been an annual participant in the Associations project in Tsarskoe Selo. Since 2013 he has created stage costumes for shows by the company ESTEL on an annual basis.

Works for theatre produced by Stas Lopatkin include the costumes for the Almaty Symphony Orchestra’s show Mr. Adam (Stage Director – Vasily Barkhatov, 2018) and the costumes for the production (Un)accepted Call at the Theatre on Liteiny (Stage Director – Sergei Morozov, 2019). At the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre as a production designer he staged the ballet Daphnis et Chloé (choreography by Dmitry Pimonov, 2020) and as a costume designer he worked on the ballet Visions fugitives (choreography by Dmitry Pimonov, 2020).
