Gurgen Petrosyan was born in Nalchik in 1991. In 2015, he graduated from the Saratov State Sobinov Conservatoire as a choral conductor and in 2017, as a symphony orchestra conductor. He has participated in master-classes held by Teodor Currentzis, Dennis Fisher, and Yuri Simonov.

Petrosyan won the 1st Prize at the Krasnoyarsk International Choral Conductors Competition (2015). In 2015, he founded FiatLux choir at the Saratov Conservatoire and remained the head of the choir up to 2016. From 2015 to 2017, he was Assistant Conductor of the Saratov Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra. From 2016 to 2018 he conducted the Engels Municipal Chamber Orchestra. Petrosyan has also performed with the Chamber Orchestra of the Kostroma Regional State Philharmonic, the Astana State Academic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Rostov Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow State Youth and Children Symphony Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.
