Anastasia Bespalova

Anastasia Bespalova graduated from the composition faculty of the Urals Musorgsky State Conservatoire (class of V. A. Kobekin). She was a prize-winner at the First Opus young composers´ competition (Moscow, 2003). She has taken part in the music festivals Festspiel – Music of Two Cities (Yekaterinburg, 2003) and Youth Academies of Russia-2004 (Kazan-Yekaterinburg-Moscow, 2004). Her symphonic work Secrets of a Wild Wood and music for string quartet A Clockwork Orange were performed in concert programmes of the Youth Academies of Russia-2005 festival (Rostov-St Petersburg), and works such as A Hymn to the Sun for chorus to poetry by K. Balmont and Shari Vari for saxophone and piano were performed at the festival New Music Days in Yekaterinburg-2005. Anastasia Bespalova is the winner of a young composers´ competition held at the Mariinsky Theatre to write an opera based on a subject by Nikolai Gogol.
