Emil Faski


Choreographer
Trained at the Perm State School of Dance. After graduating from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in 1992 (class of Professor Gennady Selyutsky) he became a soloist with the Leonid Yakobson State Ballet Theatre in addition to appearing with dance companies in Hamburg, Monte Carlo and Stuttgart. Emil Faski has performed roles in the classical repertoire as well as ballets by John Cranko, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek and John Neumeier. Since 2007 he has worked as a choreographer with numerous ballet companies and collaborated with renowned playwrights, designers and composers. In 2009 he made his debut as a ballet master at the Mariinsky Theatre where he worked as the choreographer on a production of the opera Les Troyens. The repertoire of the Mariinsky Ballet expanded to include Emil Faski’s one-act work Simple Things to music by Arvo Pärt in 2010. In 2013 as part of the Mariinsky Theatre’s project A Creative Workshop of Young Choreographers Emil Faski presented an extract from the ballet The Tragedy of Salome to music by Florent Schmitt.
