Nikolai Yemtsov


Tenor

Born in St Petersburg. Graduated from the St Petersburg State Conservatoire in 2004 (class of Professor Lev Morozov). He took part in productions of the Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Conservatoire, where he performed the roles of Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Vaudemont (Iolanta) and Alfredo (La traviata). Soloist with the St Petersburg Concert ensemble from 2004, the Cyrillic ensemble from 2005 and the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers since 2008.

In 2003 he took part in the International Young Opera Director’s Competition in Graz (Austria), where he performed the role of Hoffman in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann.
In November 2009 he appeared as Faust (Gounod’s Faust) at the Vladikavkaz Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
