Born in Leningrad.
Having graduated from the Leningrad Academic Vaganova School of Dance in 1981 he joined the Mariinsky Ballet where he appeared in productions of Giselle (Hans, Classical Duet), Le Corsaire (Lankedem, Birbanto, “Forban” dance), La Bayadère (Magdaveya), The Sleeping Beauty (Carabosse), Don Quixote (Basilio, Sancho Panza), The Fountain of Bakhchisarai (Vaslav, Tatar Dance), The Legend of Love (Ferkhad’s Friend), Leningrad Symphony (the Youth), The Government Inspector (Lyapkin-Tyapkin), The Creation of the World (Devil), Spartacus (Gaul, Centurions), The Stone Flower (Danila) and Cinderella (Cinderella’s Father; production by Alexei Ratmansky) among others.
Since 2007 he has been a teacher and coach with the Mariinsky Ballet, rehearsing roles with Alexander Sergeyev, Konstantin Zverev, Alexei Timofeyev, Xander Parish and Anton Korsakov. Since 2021 he has been Ballet Master.

Died on 20 August 2022.
