Alexandra Iosifidi

Alexandra Iosifidi was born in Leningrad. After graduating from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet (class of Nina Sakhnovskaya) in 1995, she joined the Mariinsky Ballet Company.

Has toured with the Mariinsky Ballet Company to Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain, the USA, Brazil and Japan. She has taken part in the Dance Open International Festival and the Cheboksary International Ballet Festival.

She has performed at the Hermitage Theatre (as Odette-Odile in the ballet Swan Lake).

In 2007 she performed the role of the Chosen Maiden in Le Sacre du printemps at the Opera di Roma, and in 2009 she returned there for the role of Cleopatra in Michel Fokine’s ballet Cleopatra (revival staged by Vyacheslav Khomyakov).

She performed the role of the Chosen Maiden in the ballet Le Sacre du printemps for the DVD Stravinsky and the Ballets Russes (released by the Mariinsky Theatre to mark one century of the  Saisons russes, 2009).

The concert featuring Nikolaj Znaider as listed on the playbill for 4 October will now take place on 1 October.

On 24 October, instead of the planned performance of the opera Duke Bluebeard’s Castle and an evening of piano music, at 15.00, the Mariinsky Theatre will now be staging a premiere of the opera Věc Makropulos (The Makropoulos Affair).

, the opera Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Mariinsky Theatre will now commence at 18.00 and not at 19.00 as previously announced.

On 29 October at the Mariinsky Theatre, instead of a recital there will be a concert performance of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Tsar’s Bride featuring Olga Borodina as Lyubasha.
