Yevgenia Obraztsova’s debut in the ballet The Little Humpbacked Horse
On 10 October ballet soloist Yevgenia Obraztsova will be making her debut as the Tsar Maiden in the ballet The Little Humpbacked Horse (choreography by Alexei Ratmansky).
Over seven theatre seasons at the Mariinsky Theatre, Yevgenia Obraztsova has performed a huge variety of roles. In her repertoire, Aurora from Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty sits alongside Terpsichore from Balanchine’s Apollo, Colombine from Fokine’s Le Carnaval and Giselle from Adam’s ballet of the same name. The ballerina has had the good fortune to dance not just in 19th and 20th century classics, but also in ballets by contemporary choreographers, such as William Forsythe, Alexei Ratmansky and Pierre Lacotte. Yevgenia Obraztsova is familiar with Alexei Ratmansky’s style from the ballet Cinderella, in which she performs the title role. In Ratmansky’s The Little Humpbacked Horse, the role of the Tsar Maiden is very suitable for the enchanting Yevgenia Obraztsova. This ballet will without doubt open up a new facet of her talents.
