Hrachuhi Bassenz


Soprano

Hrachuhi Bassenz was born in Yerevan. She has sung many of the important roles in the operatic repertoire – from the Queen of the Night to Desdemona. Since 2008 she has been a member of the Nuremberg State Opera. Currently an ensemble member at the State Theater of Nuremberg, Ms. Bassenz enjoys an international career as well, having performed in concerts and operas in North Korea, Moscow, Cypress, Lebanon, Turkey, Austria and the United States. Highlights of the season 2011/12 include the leading roles in three grand Verdi operas: Violetta in “La Traviata”, Gulnara in “Il Corsaro”, and Leonora in “Il Trovatore”.

In 1996 she won the First Prize at the Fifth Voice Competition of the Republic of Armenia. Subsequent awards include the Hildegard Pabelick-Jentsch Preis for Armenian church music (2000), the Belvedere Singing Competition, Vienna (2005) and the Gelsenkirchener Theaterpreis (2006). In 2013 Hrachuhi Bassenz won the Second Prize of the “Voci Verdiane” International Competition in Busseto (Italy).
