About the Concert

The Mariinsky International Piano Festival continues the tradition of familiarizing the audiences with the best piano schools of Moscow. This year’s festival will feature the class of Mira Marchenko, whose student Alexandra Dovgan was the star of 2018. Natalia Trull, a professor of the Moscow Conservatory and Mira Marchenko’s colleague, describes her teaching technique as follows: “It is great to work together with Mira Marchenko, who is the head of our department. As a teacher, she continues Russian traditions of teaching piano. A class for her is one big family and she “mothers” her class and takes care of every single student, which is not an easy task. She is truly brilliant in terms of choosing the repertory. Her intuitive choices, her will and patience allows her to present a performer in the best possible professional setting.”
