Percussion for Maslenitsa

Master-classes at the chamber venues of the Mariinsky II

Peter Sadlo master-class
Musorgsky Hall (Upper Choral Hall)
Begins at 14:00
The outstanding German percussionist Peter Sadlo has been a prize-winner at numerous international competitions and is the timpanist and leader of the percussion section with the Münchner Philharmoniker, a lecturer at the Münchner Hochschule für Musik und Theater and a professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. The musician has a flourishing career as a soloist, appearing in recitals and with various ensembles. Peter Sadlo is convinced that “rhythm is part of the basic form of expression in music. Our ancestors, who listened to the beating of their hearts, instinctively integrated this primordial pulsation in their lifestyles in terms of acoustics. Even today, in a person’s consciousness rhythm or rhythmics are of fundamental importance, the essence that heralds the melody or the harmony.”
