The Sakha Brass quintet was established in 2011. It was assembled from artists of the  Lena River Brass orchestra of the Yakutia Philharmonic. The quintet is directed by Ivan Sivtsev. The ensemble’s participants include graduates and teachers of the Bosikov Higher School of Music of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Vladislav Petrov (trumpet), Lyubomir Sleptsov (trumpet), Ivan Sleptsov (tuba), Vladimir Filippov (trombone) and Ivan Sivtsev (French horn).
The ensemble regularly features in concerts of the philharmonic. In 2012 the ensemble was a prize-winner at the  Waves of the Amur international festival of religious music in Khabarovsk which commemorated two centuries since the victory in the War of 1812. In 2012 it appeared at the State Academic Cappella in St Petersburg as part of celebrations marking three hundred and eighty years since the inclusion of Yakutia into the Russian State together with other ensembles of the Philharmonic of the Sakha Republic.
The ensemble’s repertoire includes classical music, jazz, the avant-garde, original arrangements of popular songs, dances and melodies as well as film soundtracks.


Ivan Sivtsev

Ivan Sivtsev graduated from the Novosibirsk State Glinka Conservatoire in 1999 (class of V.G. Sokolov).
From 1991–1993 he performed with the Symphony Orchestra of the State National TV and Radio Company of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), while from 1993–1995 he performed with the Symphony Orchestra of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and from 1995–1999 he was a member of the Novosibirsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra directed by Arnold Katz.
He subsequently appeared again with the Symphony Orchestra of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), while since 2011 he has performed with the wind band of the  Lena River Brass and is director of the Sakha Brass quintet and a leader of the brass section of the  Symphonica ARTicа orchestra.
Teaches at the Bosikov Higher School of Music of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). His students have been prize-winners at regional, All-Russian and international competitions. “Champion of Culture” of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
