XI MARIINSKY INTERNATIONAL PIANO FESTIVAL
19 October – 30 December 2016

For the eleventh time, the Mariinsky Theatre has invited pianists from across the globe to take part in the International Piano Festival. Over twelve days at the Mariinsky-II, Concert Hall and chamber venues there will be concerts of piano music – solo, ensemble and accompanied by orchestra. Audiences will again be able to hear performances by prize-winners of the Tchaikovsky Competition, regular guests at St Petersburg's music festivals and future stars of the international piano scene. As was the case last year, during the festival there is to be a series of concerts entitled Children for Children, which will see talented young musicians perform onstage. Individual festival programmes are entirely dedicated to major pianist-composers – Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin (the festival will see performances of all of his sonatas and piano concerti) and Rachmaninoff (all of his concerti).

Founders of the festival – Valery Gergiev and Mira Yevtich
