The Russian premiere of Jiří Bubeníček’s ballet Gentle Memories, created for Mariinsky Theatre prima ballerina Yekaterina Kondaurova, will take place on 27 September as part of an evening of dance at the Concert Hall
On 15 July a performance of Giacomo Puccini’s opera Tosca featuring Maria Guleghina and Vladimir Galouzine brought the XX anniversary Stars of the White Nights International Music Festival to a close. The theatre’s 229th season lasts until 22 July
On 20, 21 and 22 June, for the first time the Mariinsky Theatre will be presenting a stage version of Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem, directed by theatre magician Daniele Finzi Pasca and his permanent team including set designer Jean Rabasse, recipient of a César award and Oscar and Emmy award nominee
25 and 26 May and 26 June will see the premiere of a new production of Modest Musorgsky’s opera Boris Godunov at the Mariinsky Theatre by renowned British stage director Graham Vick under the musical direction of Valery Gergiev.
The performance on 25 May opens the XX Stars of the White Nights music festival.
That evening, the role of Boris will be performed by Yevgeny Nikitin.
The Mariinsky Theatre will be hosting the premiere of a new production of Claude Debussy’s opera based on Maurice Maeterlinck’s play Pelléas et Mélisande on 13 April at 19:00, on 14 April at 14:00 and on 18 April at 20:00
