The Mariinsky Theatre's broadcasts have been seen by almost nine million viewers

In the two weeks since the launch of the project The Mariinsky Online which sees the theatre offering audiences its best productions performed by its finest soloists, the Mariinsky Theatre's broadcasts and screening events have been seen by 8.8 million people. The most popular performance has been Shchedrin's ballet Konyok Gorbunok (The Little Humpbacked Horse) with choreography by Alexei Ratmansky, which drew an audience of 1.6 million. Among the concert programmes, Tchaikovsky's Second and Fifth Symphonies conducted by Valery Gergiev drew the greatest interest – that broadcast drew 1.4 million viewers – while the celebratory Gala Concert marking the opening of the Mariinsky II, broadcast on World Theatre Day, attracted an audience of 1.3 million.

In the coming days the Mariinsky Theatre will be broadcasting several more performances and concert programmes online from its "gold reserves": Tchaikovsky's opera Eugene Onegin (2 April, 19.00) and the final evening of the series All Tchaikovsky Symphonies, featuring Valery Gergiev conducting composer's Third and Fourth Symphonies (3 April, 19.00). The week will conclude with events for a family audience: Prokofiev's symphonic tale Peter and the Wolf with the acclaimed actress Kseniya Rappoport as the Narrator (4 April, 12.00) and Tchaikovsky's ballet-féerie The Sleeping Beauty (5 April, 19.00).

The broadcasts will be available to view via the platform mariinsky.tv, the theatre's pages on Odnoklassniki and VKontakte, VKontakte's themed sections "Watch at Home" and Odnoklassniki's "We're Going to the Theatre". It will also be possible to see the opera Eugene Onegin and the ballet The Sleeping Beauty using the Okko online cinema. All published recordings will be accessible to fiew for twenty-four hours.
