Pre-New Year concerts by Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre in Moscow

Continuing the tradition of annual concerts in Moscow in the lead up to New Year’s Eve, on 24 and 28 December Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre will be appearing at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and the Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow.

On 24 December as part of the arts festival Russian Winter at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall there will be a performance of Verdi’s opera Aida. For this concert performance, Valery Gergiev has brought together a stellar cast of soloists. The title role will be performed by Tatiana Serjan alongside Ekaterina Semenchuk as Amneris, Hovhannes Ayvazyan as Radamès, Roman Burdenko as Amonasro and Mikhail Petrenko as Ramfis.

A few days later the Mariinsky Orchestra will again be coming to Moscow to present a festive programme at the Zaryadye Concert Hall. Maestro Gergiev will be conducting highlights from music for Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker and one of the most popular piano concerti – Rachmaninoff’s Second Concerto, the solo to be performed by the acclaimed pianist Behzod Abduraimov.
