From 1 to 6 July the Mariinsky Theatre Opera Company and Symphony Orchestra will be appearing at the XX International Valery Gergiev Music Festival in Mikkeli
On 30 June Olesya Novikova will be making her debut in the title role in Alexei Ratmansky’s ballet Anna Karenina alongside Alexander Sergeyev and Dmitry Pykhachov who will be performing the roles of Vronsky and Karenin respectively for the first time
On 29 June the title role in Adolphe Adam’s ballet Giselle will be danced for the first time by Maria Shirinkina, while Konstantin Zverev will be making his debut as Count Albrecht
In late July the Mariinsky label will be releasing a recording of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto featuring Daniil Trifonov and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev
On 22 June the Mariinsky Theatre hosted the international Montblanc New Voices awards ceremony for the sixth time, with Viktoria Yastrebova and Andrei Serov named as this year’s winners
On 12 June the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra performed at the Large Hall of the Dzintari concert hall in Jūrmala under the baton of Valery Gergiev for the first time
