Pekka Milonoff graduated as a director from the Theatre Academy in 1971 and began his career as an actor and director in the KOM-teatteri company, founded the same year. He was artistic director of the company from 1977 to 1981 and took up the post again in 1982. Milonoff has directed more than 40 productions for KOM-teatteri. Milonoff wrote and directed the film Rikos & rakkaus (Crime and Love), which was released in 1998. He has appeared as a guest director at Lilla Teatern in Helsinki, at the City Theatres of Turku, Kuopio and Kajaani, at Tanssiteatteri Minimi, at the Theatre Academy and at the TV Theatre of the Finnish Broadcasting Company. His TV productions include the films Elmo and Eteenpäin (Forward), and the drama series Vuoroin vieraissa (Secret affairs), which he also co-wrote. In addition to directing and scriptwriting, Milonoff has created dramatizations, and he also teaches acting and directing in the Finnish-language and Swedish-language departments of the Theatre Academy. His extensive stage career has been recognized with a number of awards, most recently the Vuoden valopilkku prize in 1998, the Pro Finlandia decoration in 2003 and the culture prize of the City of Helsinki in 2004.
