Leia Zhu


Violin

Leia Zhu was born in 2006. At the age of four, she made her solo debut in the North East Last Night of the Proms in Newcastle City Hall. Since then, she has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the UK, Russia, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.

Leia Zhu attends Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Junior Guildhall) in London. She receives regular violin lessons from Itzhak Rashkovsky via private arrangement and participates in master-classes of Zakhar Bron at his Academy in Interlaken.

As a soloist, Leia Zhu works with world’s leading orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Russian National Orchestra, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra among others. She has been invited to perform at many festivals in Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium and Russia.

She is 1st prizewinner in both “violin” and “piano” categories at the Concorso Internazionale di Musica Euterpe in Italy (2013). In 2015, she got Grand Prix “Discovery of the Competition” at the International Competition Young Virtuosos in Sofia, the 1st prize at the International Russian Rotary Children Music Competition and the 1st prize at the Nutcracker International Television Competition for Young Performers in Moscow.
