Philipp Wollheim


Violin

Philipp Wollheim was born in 1992 in Berlin. At the age of four he began to study the violin under Shuho Hoshi-Berg. On several occasions he won the Jugend Musiziert competition (1997, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009). In June 2006 he was a prize-winner at the Klassik-Preis der Stadt Münster and the WDR Competition.

In September 2008 he was a prize-winner at the International Paul Hindemith Competition in Berlin (2nd prize and Special Prize for the best performance of a work by Hindemith). In 2010 he was a finalist at the TONALi competition at which he received the Audience Award.

From 2004–2014 he was a student at the Julius-Stern-Institut der Universität der Künste in Berlin (classes of Tomasz Tomaszewski and Nora Chastian). Since 2015 he has been a postgraduate student at the Zurich Hochschule der Künste (class of Rudolf Koelman).

Founding member of the ensembles Cohen Wollheim Trio and TONALi Trio.

Regularly tours throughout Germany, Portugal, Israel, Japan and Switzerland.

Has appeared at the Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg.

Since 2006 he has performed a violin crafted by a pupil of Italian music masters of Grancino dynasty (Netherlands, 1780), presented to him by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
