Alexei Filimonov


Alexei Filimonov is a pianist and arranger. In 1998 he graduated from the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music (class of Igor Bril). That same year he began to perform in Igor Butman's ensemble with which he collaborated for three years. From 2001–2004 he appeared with his ensemble in the Czech Republic, Poland and Sweden and, as a member of the ensemble, became a prize-winner at numerous international jazz competitions. In 2001, 2002 and 2003 he took part in the prestigious Montreux Jazz Piano Solo Competition as well as being a diploma-recipient at the Jazz Festival in Montreux. In 2004 he won 2nd prize at the International Jazz Soloists’ Competition in Monaco. Since 2009 he has lived in St Petersburg. Frequently tours throughout Russia and abroad.
