Markus Malmgren has performed as an organ soloist, accompanist and chamber musician in the majority of European countries and in North America. He regularly collaborates with different baroque ensembles and orchestras. Malmgren is known for his improvisations, which include music programs for several silent film performances. He has recorded 20th century Finnish organ music and made a number of recordings for the Finnish national broadcasting company Yle. Malmgren has worked extensively as a church musician in the Helsinki Region. He teaches organ, liturgical music and improvisation at the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Sibelius Academy, where he also took his doctoral degree in 2015. Since 2004 Malmgren has been the organist of the Cantores Minores Choir.
