Geir Draugsvoll  earns world wide recognition as one of the most important musicians and pioneers on his instrument – the bayan. He has caused headlines like “Breaking boarders”, “Fantastic”, "Breathtaking", “All hail the accordion” and “Musical Sensation” with a repertoire ranging from arrangements of music by Bach, Mozart, Grieg and Stravinsky to contemporary classics like Gubaidulina, Hosokawa, Berio, Nørgaard and Piazzolla.

Through collaborations with many composers, he has world premiered a large number of works. And especially the works by Sofia Gubaidulina have a prominent place in his concert programs and discography. The collaboration between Draugsvoll and Gubaidulina culminated in 2009 when he world premiered her latest concerto – "Fachwerk", which also was dedicated to him, and recently world-premiered recorded for NAXOS. During 2011 Draugsvoll performed "Fachwerk" to great public acclaim with orchestras throughout Europe, culminating with London Symphony Orchestra/ Valery Gergiev on tour to Luxembourg,Frankfurt and London.

Draugsvoll has performed all over Europe, in the USA and also toured China and Japan. He has performed at venues and festivals such as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Edinburgh Festival, Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Queen Elisabeth Hall, Lockenhaus Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, Rheingau Festival, Octobre Normandie, Mittelfest Italy, Kronberg Academy, Konzerthaus Berlin, Musikhalle Hamburg, Washington National Gallery of Art, Bergen International Festival, St Olavs Festival, Bath Festival and many others. Geir Draugsvoll is extensively performing upcoming repertoire for bayan and orchestra. Through this work, he has collaborated with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Vasily Petrenko, Yuri Bashmet, David Geringas and Reinbert de Leeuw – with orchestras like the Russian National Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Moscow Soloists, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra and several others. His extensive discography include recordings for EMI, NAXOS, BIS, SIMAX, DELOS, DaCapo, Dreyer-Gaido and many others.

Geir Draugsvoll is Norwegian, born at Voss and studied in Copenhagen with Mogens Ellegaard. In 1995 Draugsvoll was appointed associate professor at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen where he is living.
