Tobias Berndt


Baritone

Tobias Berndt, a native of Berlin, began his musical education with the Kreuzchor in Dresden, completing his studies with Hermann Christian Polster in Leipzig and Rudolf Piernay in Mannheim. He also studied with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Thomas Quasthoff, and several scholarships and international awards were conferred on him. He was a prizewinner at the “International Brahms Contest”, as well as at the “Cantilena International Contest” in Bayreuth and the “Das Lied – International Song Competition” in Berlin. As an established concert singer, he works with such conductors as Hans -Christoph Rademann, Philippe Herreweghe, Helmuth Rilling, Christoph Spering, Michael Sanderling, Andrey Boreyko, Teodor Currentzis and Andrea Marcon, performing at the Philharmonie Berlin, Tonhalle Zurich, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Gewandhaus Leipzig and Hercules Hall in Munich and at major international Festivals, such as the Prague Spring Festival, the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, the Leipzig Bach Festival, the Handel Festival in Halle and Gottingen and the Rheingau Music Festival. He toured several times not only within Europe, but in the USA, South Africa, Russia, Asia and South America as well, performing with Collegium Vocale Gent under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe, and with the RIAS Chamber Choir, conducted by Hans-Christoph Rademann. His actual project include concerts with the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine under Kwamé Ryan, the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra under Marcus Creed, La Cetra Baroque Orchestra under Andrea Marcon, Musica Aeterna conducted by Teodor Currentzis, Danish National Symphony Orchestra with Andrea Marcon, the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic under Helmuth Rilling and the International Bach Academy under Hans-Christoph Rademann.
