Agnieszka Rehlis graduated with distinction from Vocal Studio at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław (1996), where for three years she held scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and Art. She took first prize at the Franciszka Platówna Vocal Competition in Wrocław (1991) and third prize at the III Interuniversity Vocal Competition at Duszniki-Zdrój (1994). She has participated in numerous master classes given by Krystyna Szostek-Radkowa, Adele Stolte, Christian Elsner, and Gerhard Kahry, culminating in concerts of the Wratislavia Cantans Oratorio and Cantata Music Festival.

Agnieszka Rehlis was a soloist of the Wrocław Opera from 1996 to 2007, where she made her debut in 1996 as Jadwiga in Moniuszko’s Straszny dwór (The Haunted Manor). With the Wrocław Opera she also performed such major roles as Fenena in Nabucco, Flora in La traviata, Meg Page in Falstaff, Magdalena in Rigoletto, Siébel in Faust, Mercedes in Carmen, Eurydyka in Zbigniew Rudziński’s Antygona, as well as roles in operas by Mozart (Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro and Dorabella in Così fan tutte). With the Wrocław Opera she has toured to Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium, France, Italy and Taiwan. She has also participated in major opera productions at Wrocław’s Hala Ludowa (Carmen, Nabucco, Il trovatore, Straszny dwór, Fiddler on the Roof and Das Rheingold) and in the premiere production of Amilcare Ponchielli’s La Gioconda presented on the banks of the River Oder in Wrocław and recorded live by Polish National TV (2003).

In 2003 Rehlis made her debut at the Teatr Wielki – Opera Narodowa in Warsaw as Fenena in Verdi’s Nabucco. The singer’s repertoire includes over sixty oratorios and cantatas, ranging from works by Johann Sebastian Bach to Krzysztof Penderecki.

She has appeared at concert halls in Poland and Europe in countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Ukraine, Lithuania, Austria, Latvia, Russia, Slovenia, and Spain. Agnieszka Rehlis has performed at international festivals including the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, the Wratislavia Cantans, the Chopin Festival at Duszniki-Zdrój, the International Meetings East–West in Zielona Góra, the Probaltica Festival of Music and Art from the Baltic States in Toruń, the Usedom Music Festival in Peenemünde, the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades (France), festivals of sacred music in Marseilles and Nuremberg, the George Enescu International Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Contrasts International Music Festival in Lvov (Ukraine), the Prague Spring Festival and the Beijing Music Festival. She has sung under such outstanding conductors as Jiří Bělohlávek, Gabriel Chmura, Lawrence Foster, Marco Guidarini, Gustavo Dudamel, Jacek Kaspszyk, Kazimierz Kord, Bramwell Tovey, Antoni Wit and Long Yu and has been accompanied by such acclaimed orchestras as the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, NDR Symphony Orchestra, the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the Simón Bolívar Youth Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the National Polish Philharmonic Orchestra.

The singer has regularly performed in concerts conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki in Poland and abroad. Her repertoire includes Penderecki’s Polish Requiem, Te Deum, Credo and Seven Gates of Jerusalem (the latter work being performed at the MIDEM Classic International Forum in 2000 in Cannes). She also sang in the world premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Symphony No 8, Lieder der Vergänglichkeit (Songs of Transience).

In September 2005, Rehlis recorded Penderecki’s Te Deum, and in 2006 came Lieder der Vergänglichkeit, both on the Naxos label. Many of her recording have received the Frederic award from the Polish Phonographic Academy, among them Ignacy Jan Paderewski’s opera Manru (in the category “Most Outstanding Recording of Polish Music”, 2004) and Stanisław Moniuszko’s Masses, Part I (in the category “Album of the Year – Choral and Oratorio Music”, 2009). The second CD with Moniuszko’s Masses under the DUX label was awarded the Golden Orpheus – Arturo Toscanini Prize by France’s Académie du Disque Lyrique (in the category “Best Phonographic Initiative”). Rehlis has also made DVD recordings, including Penderecki’s Polish Requiem, performed at a concert commemorating the anniversary of the tragic events of December 1970 at the Szczecin Shipyards and Seven Gates of Jerusalem, directed by Jarosław Minkowicz and Tomasz Bagiński, which won the Grand Prix and the Czech Crystal award (in the category “Music on Screen”) at the International Golden Prague Television Festival.

Last concert season, in addition to her performances of oratorio music (including Maciejewski’s Requiem at Westminster Cathedral in London), success came to Agnieszka Rehlis in operatic roles. She sang in the premiere of Mieczysław Weinberg’s opera The Passenger directed by David Pountney at the Bregenz Festival as well as at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg in the ballet Chopin, staged during a tour by the Teatr Wielki – Opera Narodowa. Her appearances in premiere performances at the Teatr Wielki – Opera Narodowa in Warsaw including the roles of Maffio Orsini in Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia, Lisa in Weinberg’s The Passenger, Wagner’s Lieder to lyrics by Mathilde Wesendonck in the premiere of the ballet Tristan and Berlioz’ song in the ballet Chopin received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike.

On 14 January 2011 Agnieszka Rehlis had the honour of performing at the concert at the Warsaw Philharmonic that officially closed the celebrations of the Year of Chopin. Together with the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev she performed Krzysztof Penderecki’s latest work, Powiało na mnie morze snów… Pieśni zadumy i nostalgii (A Sea of Dreams Did Breathe on Me – Songs of Reflection and Nostalgia), set to texts by Polish poets.
