Sergei Naida


Tenor

Sergei Naida was a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre from 1991 to 1999. He was admitted to the company after graduating from the Moscow Conservatoire, where he studied under Irina Arkhipova. In 1993 he won the Gold Medal at the Mario del Monaco International Competition in Sicily. At the theatre he performed lead tenor roles in repertoire productions, among them Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Manrico in Il trovatore, Alfredo in La traviata, Vladimir Igorevich in Prince Igor, Vsevolod in The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia, Sergei in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk and the title roles in Faust, Sadko and Semyon Kotko.

Has appeared as a guest soloist at the Metropolitan Opera, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Théâtre La Monnaie, the Teatro Real in Madrid and Berlin's Deutsche Oper among others. Much of the singer's repertoire comprises roles in operas by Verdi and verist composers, such as Arrigo (I vespri siciliani), Radamès (Aida), Don Alvaro (La forza del destino), Otello (Otello), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Calaf (Turandot), Canio (I pagliacci) and Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana). Moreover, he has appeared as Hermann (The Queen of Spades), Vaudémont (Iolanta), Alexei Ivanovich (The Gambler), the Prince (The Love for Three Oranges), Erik (Der Fliegende Holländer) and Tristan (Tristan und Isolde).
